Agile Management Office has 12 Guiding Principles that lead our way of working. These principles are integrated into our AMO Way framework for implementing long lasting change, and by embodying these 12 points, we have been able to secure reliable and targeted results for all of our clients.

Let’s dive into one of the principles!

Principle 8:

Reuse & Recycle to deliver More with Less

Defintion

It is all about working smarter not harder, organisations are wasting millions of dollars every year reinventing the wheel with project governance methods, frameworks, tools. They hire and re-hire people to lead functions and rather than leverage the knowledge using highly efficient knowledge management protocols, they start again. The AMO works collaboratively; not only within their team but also leverages expertise from the organisation around them. By actively engaging others, these teams often will do the same and as a result reduce duplication and demonstrates more transparency.

Example

Rather than re-inventing the wheel, try introducing better methods for reusing content, methods, tools with strong knowledge management practices and where sensible ‘buy-in’ the missing expertise, tools, or frameworks. Make sure to structure your processes in a way that can be sustained in the long term and is not dependent on people. Ensure you have solid training also to help new comers understand the importance of certain processes already in place.

Checklist

  • Introduce consistency and collaboration to co-create frameworks, processes and tools for consumption.
  • Leverage a strong knowledge management approach.
  • Focus on quality rather than quantity.
  • Question everything you are producing.
  • Reduce, no really, REDUCE all unnecessary reporting overheads.
